Did You Know?


  • There are currently 7.6m people registered with SARS above the income-tax threshold – not all of these are taxpayers.
  • There are 282 000 people in South Africa (3.6% of registered taxpayers) who earn over R1m (US$ 71 000) a year. These individuals combined contribute 40% of all total personal income taxes to SARS.
  • There are 120 000 people in the country that earn over R1.5m/year (US$ 105 000). These people make up 0.2% of the total population.
